Anytime someone asks what I miss most about Atlanta, I always say the food. (Sowwie RoxC) I lived in Midtown, the heart of the city, my last two years of school and bay-beh! I ate constantly! Here are the places I went to while I was in town two weeks ago.
LIL 5 PIZZA
422 Seminole Avenue NE
Atlanta, GA 30307
Though I am partial to FELLINI'S, Lil 5 always hits the spot. Little Five Points is one of my fave neighborhoods in Atlanta. It houses everything boho and eccentric. Its getting commercial now though...its an American Apparel on the strip.
-MY FAVES: Spinach and Mushroom Slice (perfect blend of fresh veggies and garlic. The crust is also the perfect end to a yummy slice)
261 19th Street
Atlanta, GA 30363
Even though we no longer see it for Atlantic Station, Dolce is def a reason to be spotted. The space is beautiful with gorgeous use of fabrics. The food is absurd! We cleaned our plates with their amazing bread...ghetto I know!
-My Faves: Steamed mussels with artichoke and tomato broth. Lobster pasta with creamy vodka sauce.
573 Edgewood Avenue
Atlanta,GA 30312
Hands down the BEST breakfast place in the city! Its DIY,so you can pick and choose and create your own meal. Hit up the new location with my lil sustah Jamie.
-My Faves: The Heap (potatoes topped with peppers, onions, bfast meat of your choice, eggs any style, and tons of cheese.)Chicken and Waffles (well-seasoned chicken tenders and fluffy Belgian waffle)
631 Spring Street
Atlanta, GA 30308
I lived right down the street, so they knew my name in there. This is the official wing spot of the A. Open late and your food comes super quick. You may get harassed by a dead body (homeless person), but when you are licking your fingers a few minutes later, its all worth it.
-My Faves: Ten piece hot with the sauce drizzled over the fries.
1016 Howell Mill Road
Atlanta,GA 30318
I love this place! no, I don't think you understand...LOVE this place! RoxC put me on and I've been hooked ever since. Its Pan-Asian all you can eat (yes!), BUT if you can't cook, you may not want to eat here. You have to season all of your own food and pile up the ingredients yourself. They only cook what you put pile on your plate. You also get to make name tags for your food...my friends and I always come up with crazy names. I was "FeFe Sharpei on my last trip.
-MY FAVES: Combo#1: Brown rice, beef, garlic, spinach, string beans, hoisin lime sauce. Combo #2: Brown rice, chicken, garlic, spinach, black beans, egg, black bean garlic sauce.
1001 PIEDMONT AVENUE
ATLANTA, GA 30309
Yummy organic breakfast is not an oxymoron at this place. Flying Biscuit was about 4 blocks away from me in Midtown, but I never went as much as I should have. Herbies and Carnies can both find tasty options that don't lack flavor that plague most organic spots.
-MY FAVE: The High Flyer (two scrambled eggs with cheese, side of chicken sausage, homefries, and an organic oatmeal pancake with warm peach compote) A BLESSING!
Also check out:
-Best fish tacos in the world! Choice of tilapia or salmon. Sangria here comes in a HUGE glass too!
-Its 3am. You're hungry. Unwilling to risk you life at Waffle House. The Majestic is your best bet. Its an old school diner, but the waiters and cooks are emaciated, heavily tatted hipsters.
-I love Gladys and Ron's Chicken and Waffles, but Busy Bee is my first stop when I have a taste for soul food. Situated at the bottom of campus, the AUC keeps this spot packed. The smothered chicken and yams are my staples.
