CITY BOPPIN: FREEDOM PARTY VS THE RUB

Two of some of the best parties in all of New York City are coming together. I dunno what you'll be doing this Sunday, but I'll be dancing my arse off.

The Freedom Party was my first weekly party when I moved to NYC. It is def the 30-40 real hip-hoppers crowd. The DJs are insane! Its prob also the only BLack party I can go to and not be subject to hearing Trey Songz.

The Rub is that MashDubStepBreakPop that I LOVE! DJ Ayers & Co are ill on the 1s+2s, plus they always have the great guests from the Fools Gold crew to even Solange!!

Needless to say, I'm PUMPED!

BRAIN FOOD: HAITI

I'm too lazy to set up my converter box to work on more than two channels and have been slacking on my early a.m. HuffPo readings. Luckily, my Twit fam have a functioning TV and notified me about the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Like the rest of the world, I was saddened, but I woke up the day after in major panic. My friend Joanne has been in Haiti for the last month spending time with family. By the time I made in to work, I recieved the text that she was ok. However, my heart is still heavy for the hundreds of thousands who aren't.

A friend tweeted, "Yo, Haiti is having the worst century ever!" Jokingly, I responded, "Word, Haiti had the 1800s on lock!" Yeah, it was kinda funny, but it saddened me at the same time. Haiti went from being a sovereign country inhabited and run by Blacks to becoming a third world country,

Most of us know at least ONE person who is affected by this. JoJo is at the airport on her way back to NYC, but I cant say the same for the faces I have never seen before. Please donate to Yele, Wyclef Jeans foundation. All you have to do is text " yele " to 501501 and 5 bucks will be donated.

Also, Haiti is one of the countries that PUR and Summit on the Summit is aiding. They have already sent over 300,000 PUR packets to Haiti as of today. Make sure to donate to SOTS too because your aid goes DIRECTLY to the people in need.

The obligation of the blessed is to be a blessing to someone else.

I'm REALLY loving my Copper Cottontail!

My new routine to extend time between manipulting my hair is rock the pony for about 3 days, twists for a day, and a twist out for maybe another 2,3 days.

My ends desperately need to be trimmed and I will hopefully handle that this week. Split ends are the new drama since I now have my fairy knots under control!

But geez I love my hair to much to break up with it!

Its New Year's Eve!!!!!!!!!

You know it takes women 10,000,000 years to get dressed and add an extra 1,000,000 for holidays. Stacey and I got dressed in a flash so we wandered off to CVS in search of some libations. Lo and behold we found this:

Wine in a carton???????? FOR THE WIIIINNNN!!!! Like some rebellious Catholic school girls, we found a back staircase to indulge in our find.

Tipsy Tina and Stacey Stumbles met up with everyone at dinner with our "soy milk" in our purses. We're quite bad ass so we were facing them at the table, but elegant, so we used straws.

It's time to partay, we have our own section of the club, but wound up owning the dancefloor. We all went to college in Atlanta, so you know we went IN! We ruled the night!

CITY BOPPIN: CHICAGO 12/30

After the awesome surprise we checked into the purrty Palmer House Hotel and commenced to our usual foolery. We are comprised of the tightest girls in the Atlanta University Center, but we also know how to have fun. I was in tears from laughing about 10 minutes into getting there.

We were having so much fun, that we didn't realize it was time for us to run off to dinner. We ate at this amazing Asian Fusion spot called Tamarind. It was family style so needless to say, we were all 2 seconds from taking a nap by the end of dinner.

We had to meet up with a Morehouse alum immediately after so my cries for a disco nap went unanswered. Somehow we got dragged to this piano bar. The only way to explain the experience, I must quote Stacey, "We're at the WORST place ever, with the BEST people ever!"

I've been doing HELLA surprises this year..geez!

For NYE, my fave Spelman sister, Jennifer was hosting a 3 day BDay extravaganza in Chicago with another fellow Spelmanite. After receiving the invitation late October, I KNEW that I had to go, but I knew surprising her would add to my showing up.

For a month and half, another member of my AUC sister circle and I planned and kept the secret to ourselves. You can imagine how funny it was lying to Jen's face when we were hanging out in Philly a few days before!

INTRODUCTION: THE COLLECTIVE BDAY SEASON I

As you should know by now, the boys and I call ourselves "The Collective". We have fringe members, but the core group is Corey,Mark, Dre, and I.

BDay season for The Collective begins in December with Corey and ends in April with Andre.

Corey turned the BIG 2-5 so we went all out for children's birthday. First up, drinks at Huckleberry in Williamsburg.

The immediate Collective members skipped over to Shang the following night for din din and to unveil the best BDay present everrrrr....A pair of tix to Fela!

I asked for a salmon roll...they LITERALLY gave me 1...for 5 bucks no less!
